XXIII Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and 57th SSC Meeting

It is my great pleasure to announce that the XXIII Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and 57th SSC Meeting will be held just in Kyoto for 2011. Following Geneva and Boston, Japan's most historic and unique city, is welcoming you as a host for this important event.

Kyoto, which had been the capital of Japan for over eleven centuries, combines antique charms and modern conveniences. Jewelled by over 2000 temples and shrines, gardens and promenades it is hard not to find yourself charmed in Kyoto. In fact the city is so cherished many visitors return to this place often. Most of the historical architectures were constructed by persons such as nobles and samurais in old days, to demonstrate their powers and for their spiritual beliefs. It was their self-expression. Thus not only are they splendid and gorgeous, but also serene and have the soul in them. This is what makes Kyoto unforgettable.

Regarding the scientific programs, the members of the Japanese Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis along with our international colleagues in ISTH are making full effort to make it attractive. Above all, however, we are looking forward to your scientific contribution to the constructive discussion.

In addition to the scientific and educational programs, Kyoto will charm you with its rich culture. Once in a lifetime, why not visit Kyoto?
